If its a legitimate knocking then you would want to go with head gasket if its a tapping you would be looking at a valve
White smoke. Means water/coolant in your engine. Most likely you blew the head gasket, if you smell oil and see white smoke.
Overheating?Rod rap?Bad head gasket?
It could be the cause of the knock only if the gasket was bad and leaked out almost all the oil.
if it appears to be coming from where the cylinder head meets the engine block, it is the head gasket. if it appears near the intake manifold and head, it is the intake gasket (or intake AND exhaust gasket on a straight six or Chrysler slant six). if it is coming from the engine block it is a freeze plug. some v-6 and v-8 engines are common for springing coolant leaks at the intake gaskets.
my grand am had an engine knocking noise. it was the intake manifold gasket was going bad. it was leaking coolant into my oil. look at your oil to see if it is a white milky color. if it is then you need a new manifold gasket which sucks. it takes a long time to do by yourself. or you can take it to a place that charges you $1000 to do. but if you can. do it yourself
Did you reset the light? I don't know what gasket you changed, but undoubtedly that was not the problem. The check engine light comes on when there is a problem with the emissions system.
Why change the engine ? A head gasket replacement with a head skim should cure this problem & would be a lot cheaper than a engine change best wishes
whistling noise from engine will be caused by a leaky gasket, sucking air. this is usually the intake manifold gasket
no you will blow the engine. get it fixed
i own a 91 cutlass and did a head gasket a week later the exaust valve on number 5 cylinder was sticking so i had to have a valve job done on the heads..... this was my problem the only 2 things it can be is either yuors lifters that sit below ur lower intake or ur valves
I had the same problem and fixed a few things on my divic...it ended up that I blew a head gasket...get it checked out
All of that has to come off and the gasket replaced. Get you a manual on it from AUTOREPAIR2000.COM The problem is not a gasket. The leak is coming from your oil cooler which is problematic and prone to leaking. Replace the unit and your leak should stop. Good luck
