Unless you are draining into the pan the drain plug should be firmly in place.
there is no crank case drain plug on your engine, only a plugged drain line coming from your oil tank.
Which drain you trying to open?
Open the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator on the Cavalier if the plug is there. If the radiator is the model that does not have the plug, then the bottom hose needs to be removed to drain the coolant.
Open the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator.
The Radiator Drain Plug is on the bottom of the front of the car close to the left wheel. The drain plug is red and all you do is turn the plug with your hand counter-clockwise to open it.
Plug--Counterclockwise to loosenPetcock- Clockwise to open
Open the drain plug on the passenger side of the radiator.
Could be plugged from deposits
In a 1996 Cadillac Seville STS, the radiator drain plug is located at the bottom of the radiator, typically on the passenger side. It's a small plastic or brass plug that can be turned counterclockwise to open and drain the coolant. Make sure to have a container ready to catch the coolant when you open the drain plug. Always ensure the engine is cool before attempting to drain the radiator.
If you are looking at the radiator with the hood opened up, the drain plug is on the bottom right side (the side that your battery is on) on the back side (facing the engine) of the radiator. I just had to replace my radiator and the drain plug only takes 1/4 turn to open. (You won't need any wrenches to open the drain plug either.)
Plugged. Our boat had a hole, so we plugged it.
