NO, they are not.
just had the same thing turns out the automatic car starter went bad and fried the starter replaced it same thing the ignition switch also went bad replaced that too all set now
Same thing happened to my 95 z28 turned out it was the ignition coil
No. The relay is what actuates the starter motor, whenn you turn the key to the start position.
I don't believe there is. I have a 92 PA that didn't crank either. Thinking the same thing, I took the ignition wire off the starter and there was 12 volts on it when the key was turned, indicating that circuit was OK. I then tapped the starter lightly and I was then able to start it. I believe there is a bad electrical connection in my starter. I suspect I need to replace it.
No.
Same thing happened to my 94. Turn your ignition to the on position and take a screwdriver and bridge the two terminals together on the starter. If it turns over it needs a new ignition switch. Good luck on that. They are a pain to replace.
I would suspect a defective ignition switch. I would be more inclined to believe it was the starter relay/solenoid thingy i used to have an old amc eagle. and it did same thing starter wouldn't disengage. I replaced the solenoid/starter relay and it worked fine after that.
The ignition starter has nothing to do with performance. It just starts the engine.
The problem lies in the ignition switch - had a Nissan pick-up that did the same thing.
check your wiring, if all your wiring is good then test your ignition relay, if its not the starter, not the battery, and not the wiring there's only one thing left. Good Luck with the repair
