Need to remove the air intake hose where it hooks to the engine. look up into the
throttle body at the throttle plate. It should be real shiney and clean on both sides.
You will have to push gas pedal down all the way to see other side and up in it.
If it is dirty, clean it with a tooth brush, rag and carb. cleaner till it shines.
If that don't fix it then let us know.
Have you checked the fuel pressure with a gauge ????
Did you replace the fuel filter? Is the pump actually running? If not check the fuse and fuel pump relay.
The fuel filter on the 1997 Silverado is located inside of the fuel tank.
Need to run a fuel pressure test. Specs. are 9 to 13 LBS. You could very well have a bad fuel pump. CHECK PRESSURE.

Blocked fuel filter or failing fuel pump. Autozone will test fuel line pressure for free. If fuel line pressure is low, replace filter first.
could be lots of things but have you changed you fuel filter lately?

The fuel filter is part of the fuel pump module located inside the fuel tank. The fuel filter is not serviceable by itself.
In 2004 Chevy started putting the fuel filter inside of the FUEL TANK.
Check the ignition coils and the crankshaft position sensor. One of these could be failing as they heat up.
GM no longer uses an external fuel filter on their trucks and SUV's.
