2001 S 10 Blazer 4WD Slark plug removal problem - This is a case of absolute contempt for their customers that Chevrolet builds modern cars where a spark plug cannot be changed without a major ordeal and/or an expensive trip to the shop. I have a plug that is blocked by the colapsible steering shaft and which cannot be removed by any of a half dozed different types of sockets, adapters, and swivels I have tried. I will be damned if I will pay the dealer for this, so next step is to loosen the left engine mount and raise the engine 2". This should also allow me plenty of clearance to change the seeping remote oil filter line that Chevrolet purposefully installed on these vehicles to fail at 50,000 miles and get the owner back to the dealer and showroom to be fleeced again. Will never buy one of these throw away cars from Chevrolet again. Doug
I use a standard 5/8" spark plug socket with a long 3/8" drive "wobble" extension. Then go through the wheel well opening after removing the drivers side front tire. Slip the socket on to the plug first then attach the wobble extension. This works for me.
To remove the spark plugs on a 1992 Chevy S10 with a 2.6L engine, you will need a 5/8-inch spark plug socket. This socket is specifically designed to accommodate the spark plug's hex and often has a rubber insert to grip the plug for easier removal. Make sure to use a ratchet and extension if needed for better leverage and access.
