You should have to push the clutch to start the car. Is this switch working? I have seen a lot of import ignitions that loose contact in the switch. Do the dash lights come on, the oil, charge, temp, indicators? Does the radio play? If they do then I would look at the switch. If they don't, look at a fuseable link, or one of the connections at the battery on the positive side.

Check the EGR selenoid valve. The vacuum will pass throught the defective selenoid valve and go the EGR valve even if it has not been activated. The ECM will not detect a defective selenoid valve - only an EGR problem.DPFE sensorIf it's a Ford product, you may need a DPFE sensor. You should also check for a restriction in the EGR passageway.
