On my 2003 4 cylinder 2.2 liter the battery is located on the driver's side under a protective covering behind the driver's side headlights. Right behind the battery. Right side. Beside the transmission. Follow your hand down in the hole and you can feel it
Sometimes removing and reinstaling the battery does the trick. That happened to the tachometer on mine. Put your ground on first then the positive cable.
