Did you have the new alternator tested before you installed it? I have already purchased aftermarket parts from places like Autozone and installed them and have found they are defective. I installed a starter only to find out the starter was bad. I took it back to Autozone, they gave me another one, I asked to have it tested and IT was defective. I had to go to another store to get one that worked. freak of nature? Maybe ...but it does and has happened. Make sure the belt on the alternator isn't slipping.
you should go to a car shop and get your battery checked and ask how long should u charge your battery.. or if you should get a new battery
This usually indicates that there's a problem with your alternator. The car battery works in such a way that it keeps getting recharged as you drive. The alternator is the component that ensures the battery is sufficiently recharged. So the battery light comes on if it senses that the battery is not being charged sufficiently - this might be accompanied by a foreign sound under the hood if indeed the alternator belt is broken for instance. You need to get the battery/alternator checked out at a mechanic or battery centre as soon as possible. If you continue driving the car, especially if you will be using headlights and other power-dependant functions, the power left in the battery is used up, with no recharging taking place, until it's completely dead. This might mean your car randomly switching off on you in the middle of the road as you are driving. Jump-starting won't help and the car will need to be towed. Best advice is to get it checked out immediately.
Your alternator could be bad have it checked this could also be that the car is getting the wrong amount of volts from the battery, either too much or too less
It means that the alternator has failed- in the worst case. Other possibilities are that the cables connecting to the battery have come lose, or a fuse that controls the battery has blown. Alternator is the first option to check. The vehicle will start till the time that you have juice in the battery, but the light means that the battery is not getting charged. Driving once started will take you the distance, but avoid using the horn, lights in the car... It can also mean you have a bad battery. It means you need to take it and get it checked. Check battery means check battery immediately if not sooner.
yes your battery may be duff, however it would be worth getting your charge rate checked by a garage as the problem can also mean an alternator problem
i have checked the alternator and it is good but i am not getting juice how do i check to see if the alternater is sending power to the SBEC?
The fear of getting your weight checked is called Pocrescophobia.
It could also be a corroded connection, the fusable link or the keyswitch.
Get the Engine Checked Don't waste your money getting your engine checked. Just disconnect your negative side of your battery for 10 seconds. Reconnect it and your done, no more check engine light.
hello i am the one who asked this question. some extra info. The "bolts" problem was fixed by the first mechanic. I am getting the a replacement battery today but the one now is brand new. Hopefully it is the problem. When the car battery dies i feel it in the pedal. The entire car shuts off lights, power and it just slows to a stop while driving. The alternator was checked by both mechanics and its all good.
Could be. But it might be an alternator problem instead of a batery problem. You need a good alternator to keep the bttery recharged. I wouldn't run out and buy a battery without getting the alternator checked.
