When I opened mine to discover what was causing a ticking sound I discovered the output bearing to the front differential had lost/broken the plastic material that is supposed to support the "bearing balls" in a radial pattern. The replacement bearing surprise! had a metal cage. Prior to opening it up most opinions were the metal belt was slack, it was not.

1994 Plymouth voyager makes a ticking noise from the time it starts until you turn it off What is the problem and how can you fix it?

The ticking noise could be worn out rocker arms under valve covers. Switch to heavier weight oil if ticking noise subsides that could be your problem. This is usually a sign of a high mileage engine. Worst case scenario would be weak oil pump not getting oil to top of heads.

What would case a ticking noise when you drive your car?

I just bought an 04 Malibu from a dealer and noticed a ticking noise inside the dash that sounded like the blinker was on but it wasn't. I asked the dealer about it and he told me in these cars it's typical for the turn signal to continuously catch so it would make the noise even though the blinker wasn't actually turning on
