A whining noise in your Hyundai Santa Fe while driving could be caused by several factors, such as a worn or failing serpentine belt, which may produce a high-pitched sound as it slips or rubs. It could also indicate issues with the transmission, like low fluid levels or internal wear. Additionally, problems with the power steering pump or wheel bearings can contribute to whining noises. It's best to have a qualified mechanic diagnose the issue to prevent further damage.
sounds like a bad power steering pump
You could have blown your tire or it could have gone flat.
This vehicle is notorious for a "whining" noise. The slower you drive, the louder it is. At first I thought our power-steering pump was going, or the transmission was whining. Two mechanics told me it's normal. Just a quirk with Dodge/Chrysler products. I had that whining noise and it was the alternator making the noise through the radio. even when the radio is off. Just a thought.
The high-pitched whining noise in a 2009 Jetta can be attributed to several potential issues, such as a failing alternator, worn-out serpentine belt, or issues with the power steering pump. The alternator may produce a whining sound if its bearings are worn, while a loose or damaged serpentine belt can create a high-pitched noise when it slips. Additionally, if the power steering fluid is low or the pump is malfunctioning, it can also generate a whining sound. It’s advisable to have a mechanic inspect the vehicle to pinpoint and address the exact cause.
Could be the carrier bearings or pinion bearings in the differential(s). Mine was the wife and kids.
