Could be a frozen clutch pack. Time for a transmission rebuild.
The engine also jumps when changing to Neutral and Drive. Should I have transmission fluid change? A/C was not on.
Shift linkage out of adjustment?
Yes. Be sure to change the neutral switch from your probe as the mazda's will plug in but is wired different.
if you look on the transmission, you should see two wires connected to the neutral switch.
I have the same problem with my 92 Mazda 626, have Not found a solution yet.
It might be a problem with your transmission because not all mx6's stall when you put it in drive or reverse.
the reverse light switch.. aka backup light switch is located on the front of the transmission along the side screws into the transmission if standing in front of the car looking down at the transmission you can see it
The neutral safety switch on a 2003 Mazda Tribute is typically located on the transmission. Specifically, it can be found on the side of the transmission case, near where the shift linkage connects. This switch prevents the engine from starting unless the transmission is in the "Park" or "Neutral" position. If you're having trouble locating it, consulting the vehicle's service manual can provide detailed diagrams and guidance.
Itr's a triangular-like sensor on the top front of the transmission. I know one function but it has 2 functions. It lets the ECU(PCM) know what position the transmission is in. Park or Neutral, then sends voltage to the starter so it starts. The other function has something to do with reverse, or the backup lights. carl
switch is either on side of transmission, or under the dash
My 91 Mazda 626 started doing that and we had to two foot it. It wasn't long after and the reverse went out in the transmission. We enventually lost all gears and had to replace transmission, got one out of a pull apart place for 65 and had it installed for 250. Was cheaper than having it rebuilt but it only lasted a year and went out again.
What are 2006 Mazda 6 transmission problems.
