Some people like to think that it magically appears out of thin air, Some might say that you have a leak in the Head gasket or maybe Valve gasket Depending on the make and model of your car. Then there are some that think the water has been sprayed on the Spark-plug-well that is hermetically sealed by pressure washer at the Dealership... Hogwash, preposterous, retarded! even,... your engine that produces temperatures well above boiling water would have evaporated. Sooo ... where does the water come from?

Theory #1 Moisture can be sucked into the well if you have a blown head gasket near that plug and could cause rust or what appears to be rust from the burnt antifreeze after boiling!...

Solution: remove the plug wire from the sparkplug (before you start engine) so that you can see the bottom of the spark-plug with a flashlight, Remove all water, then start the engine. Look for bubbles...it may be several minutes until engine warms and yes your engine will sound rough of course, but if you see moisture appear Magically its a small leak .. seek the professionals!

Theory #2 Moisture from condensation could be drawn to that cylinder through the spark-plug wire via a cracked wire or spark-plug boot.

Solution: Change the plug wires.

water could have gotten into the spark plug holes. water + spark= no good. Only a few spark plugs could be firing, take them out, and check for water.

How does water enter the body of a sponge?

When a sponge is submerged in water, the water enters the sponge through the tiny holes in the sponge. The sponge fills up with water, as a balloon fills with air, only not as visibly. When you squeeze the sponge, the water exits that sponge through the tiny holes...exactly the opposite of how it entered! Tada! :)

Are pot holes in the street caused by abrasion?

They can be but only if there is a weakness in the surface to start with. More likely causes are washout of the substrate beneath the roadway, a badly packed repair or water freezing and expanding in surface cracks making the surface fail.

Where are the spark plugs on a 2004?

You must remove the plastic resonator box that says "Vortec 4200" on the top of the motor to see where they are. After you do that you will see 6 spots where you must unbolt the coil packs and lift them off the spark plugs. The spark plugs are down inside those holes. Use only AC Delco Iridium plugs. www.trailvoy.com
