I am having the same issue AFTER replacing the torque converter and switch in the transmission. My check engine light was coming on with the transaxle light and the code read to replace these items BUT the transaxle light is still coming on. I am still trying to get an answer on this!
When the transaxle light comes on in a vehicle, it typically indicates a problem with the transmission or transaxle system. This could be due to issues such as low fluid levels, overheating, or mechanical failures. It's important to address this warning promptly, as continued driving can lead to further damage. Checking the vehicle's manual and consulting a mechanic for diagnostics and repairs is advisable.
need to check transmission fluid level/ or transaxle fluid level
On a 2002 Ford Taurus : You could have the gear shift lever up by the steering wheel or by the floor console for your automatic transmission And , if you mean the automatic transaxle ( transmission ) fluid level dipstick , it is near the firewall between the engine and the brake fluid reservoir in the engine compartment
check the thermostat or the fan motor could be the problem or a leak in radiator. just a thought
