The pressure plate is what the clutch presses against to drive the transmission. The plate is a metal round disk that needs to be smooth for a good connection to the clutch.

In a BDL clutch assembly, the order typically starts with a steel plate placed first, followed by a friction clutch plate. This pattern alternates, with a steel plate followed by a friction plate, until all plates are stacked. The final piece is usually a pressure plate that secures the assembly together. Always refer to the specific manufacturer's guidelines for any variations in assembly order.
The surface of the pressure plate typically contacts the clutch disc in a vehicle's clutch assembly. When the clutch pedal is pressed, the pressure plate disengages from the disc, allowing for smooth gear shifts. Upon release of the pedal, the pressure plate re-engages with the clutch disc, transferring engine power to the transmission. This interaction is crucial for the proper functioning of a manual transmission system.
Your pressure plate and throw out bearing in your clutch assembly are worn out...time for a new clutch
the swash plate assembly
More than likely the pressure plate fingers are worn. A new clutch assembly is advised
To adjust the pressure plate on a 2000 Daewoo Leganza with a 5-speed transmission, first, ensure the vehicle is safely lifted and supported. Remove the transmission to access the clutch assembly, then inspect the pressure plate and clutch disc for wear. Adjust the pressure plate by tightening or loosening the bolts evenly to achieve the manufacturer's specified torque. Reassemble the components carefully, ensuring proper alignment, and then reinstall the transmission.
Typically, yes. When a clutch engages it is the result of the springs of the pressure plate pinching the clutch plate into the flywheel. Anything that results in less pressure against the clutch plate will result in slipping. A worn damaged plate spring can end up creating less pressure. A worn clutch plate will not be as thick resulting in less pressure. Slipping can also be caused by oil that may have leaked onto the clutch plate. Unfortunately, the only way you can determine the cause of the problem will be to remove either the transmission or the engine so that you can examine the clutch assembly.
On my 98 Tahoe under the bumper behind the are where the tag is located you just pull the light assembly out. It has a little pressure clip. replace light and replace assembly the same way.
The clutch slave cylinder on all 1979-93 900s and most 99s is easy to access but difficult to remove. Begin by removing the plastic cover over the clutch assembly at the front of the car (rear of the engine).1) Compress the clutch pressure plate by stepping on the clutch pedal and holding it in place. If the clutch hydraulic system is leaking, you will need a Saab special tool to compress the pressure plate.2) Install the pressure plate ring special tool, or use a similar large gauge wire to keep the pressure plate compressed for disassembly.3) Remove the shaft that goes from the primary gears to the center of the flywheel. This is done at the front of the transmission by removing the round plate, then the threaded plastic spinner. Insert a correct sized bolt (8mm?) into the end of the shaft to aid removal.4) Remove the bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel, and the three bolts that hold the clutch slave assembly to the transmission.5) Remove the pressure plate, clutch disk and slave cylinder together.6) It will be necessary to remove the pressure plate special tool with a hydraulic press, and to install that ring into the new pressure plate for reassembly.
The clutch will have to be replaced. The pressure plate could possibly be resurfaced but usually it is as cost effective to replace the pressure plate.
