For a clutch slave cylinder, you typically use hydraulic fluid that is specified by the vehicle manufacturer, which is often either DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid. Some vehicles may require specific hydraulic fluids, such as mineral oil or synthetic fluid, so it's important to consult the owner’s manual for the correct type. Using the wrong fluid can lead to damage of the hydraulic components. Always ensure the fluid is clean and at the proper level for optimal performance.
The clutch slave cylinder in your 1998 Mitsubishi does not use fluid. The clutch slave cylinder is sealed with grease inside of it.
use brake fluid
The clutch system uses DOT 3 brake fluid.
To bleed the clutch slave cylinder on an Audi TT, first, ensure the clutch fluid reservoir is filled with the appropriate brake fluid. Locate the bleed valve on the slave cylinder, typically positioned on the transmission. Use a wrench to loosen the bleed valve while a helper depresses the clutch pedal, allowing fluid and air to escape. Once fluid runs clear without bubbles, tighten the valve, and check the fluid level before closing the reservoir.
Yes you can use brake fluid in the hydraaulic clutch system the cover on the reservoir should be marked dot 3 brake fluid also check for leaks at slave cylinder at bellhousing.
Most of the time it is because of a bad slave cylinder that does not hold pressre or is leaking. They use brake fluid and to check them look at the CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER near the firewall.
there is no such thing as clutch fluid. sorry you need a new clutch. There is indeed clutch fluid(same as brake fluid) in a classic Mini. The master cylinder is in the engine compartment directly above where the clutch pedal is located. I prefer to use Castrol brand available from Pep Boys in the USA. If the system is empty though you need to source the leak. Either from the master cylinder into the car or from the slave cylinder down by the clutch. www.HeritageGarage.com
Hi, The slave cylinder is on the side of the transmission. The hydraulic clutch system bleeder valve is on the slave cylinder. If you're bleeding the cluth, remember to have a jar and some clear plastic to bleed the system and never re-use the fluid you remove from the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder. Good luck and I hope it's a warm day for you. Please remember to use jack stands or heavy metal ramps. Steve H.
gravity bleed the slave cylinder. then use a brake bleeder pump to pump fluid into the slave cylinder's bleeder valve. you will have to use a tool or turkey baster to remove the excess fluid from the reservoir and you pump the bleeder to prevent it from over flowing. do not reuse this fluid.
Make sure your clutch master cylinder(BRAKE FLUID DOT 3)is full, have someone press clutch pedal to floor and hold, open slave cylinder bleeder screw, watch for air to come out, continue this until no air is seen coming out.You can use a clear hose on bleeder screw so you can see better and have other end in glass containerwith cluch fluid, make sure your clutch master cylinder has plenty of fluid or air will get back in.Your slave cylinder is bolted onto your transmission with 2 bolts and it is by the opening of transmission,if slave cylinder is leaking, then replace and bleed.
Brake fluid is the proper fluid. The leak is probably coming from the slave cylinder inside the bellhousing.
The fluid in the clutch master cylinder is brake fluid. Use DOT 3 or similar brake fluid for fluid replacement.
