Mexico as a nation does not have a motto. However, some of its constituting states and federal district have a unique motto, printed in each entity's coat of arms. For instance, the Chihuahua state motto is Valentia, Lealtad, Hospitalidad which translates into Bravery, Loyalty, Hospitality.

Some other Mexican states mottoes are:

  • Mexico State: Libertad, Trabajo, Cultura(Freedom, Work, Culture).
  • Tlaxcala: Cuna de la Nacion (Cradle of the Nation).
  • Puebla: Unidos en el Tiempo, en el Esfuerzo, en la Justicia y en la Esperanza (United in Time, Effort, Justice and Hope).
  • Nuevo Leon: Semper Ascendens (Latin for Always Ascending).
  • Aguascalientes: Bona Terra, Bona Gens, Aqua Clara, Clarum Coelum (Latin for Good Land, Good People, Clear Water, Clear Skies).
