An ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) sensor located near the CV (Constant Velocity) joint is responsible for monitoring the speed of the wheel. It sends this information to the vehicle's ABS control module, which helps prevent wheel lock-up during braking. By detecting variations in wheel speed, the sensor enables the ABS to modulate brake pressure, enhancing vehicle stability and control during emergency stops. Proper functioning of the ABS sensor is crucial for optimal braking performance and safety.
could b your abs sensor in you front cv joint`s
On some cars, the abs sensors may read off of a tone ring on the cv joint.
If it is round, it is a cv. If it is a cross shape, it is an u joint.
The CV joint is the part inside the boot.
The ABS sensor on ALL year Chevy Venture vans is located in the hub on the Left and right front tires. If the sensor is failing you unfortunately have to replace the entire hub. The barrings and the sensor are all sealed inside the hub. The ABS electrical connector is just behind the hub under the CV axle.
yes it does!! the front axles on your car a called cv axels, the joint on the axel is called a cv joint!!
On the cv joint attached to the front differential, if you take off the boot, in front of the bearing, there is a cir clip. If you remove the cir clip the whole cv joint slides out of the differential. Have fun...
At the front wheels
The sensor bolt in to the knuckle and reads the toothed wheel on the cv axle. If the sensor is bad you just need to unbolt and disconnect the wire to remove. If the wheel is bad/damaged you would need a new cv joint or axle.
On some vehicles, the abs tone ring (what the sensor reads) is on the cv shaft.
It is probably part of the wheel bearing/ hub assy. Outboard of the U-joint or CV joint (depending on the year) you will see a series of splines around the circumference of the axle hub, just behind the brake rotor... that is part of your ABS wheel sensor system.
a cv joint is like a driveshaft for a rear end. front wheel drive cars have them and most newer 4wd front ends. its what makes your car go when put in gear
