The big piece in the center that the ring gear bolts to and houses the spider and side gears.
to change carrier bearings in rear differenial you have to remove the rear differential from the vehicle. then remove the cover. remove the bearing caps. remove differential carrier unit. remove bearings. install new bearings. and then reassemble. recommend having a professional repair shop peform repairs
Which differential bearings? Pinion bearing? Carrier bearings? End axle bearings?
Limited Slip was an optional feature and also was part of the Off-Road or UpCountry option package. Look for a warning tag in the glove box, an extra tag on a differntail cover bolts, or open the differential an inspect the carrier. The Limited Slip carrier looks different than the open differential carrier.
Disconnect it from the differential carrier (it should be just four bolts and two clamps), separate it from the differential carrier (the driveshaft has some room to slide on the transmission output shaft), then, once it is separated from the differential carrier, pull forward to remove it from the transmission output shaft.
That would depend on what style of differential you have, H-190 Differential carrier type, with independent suspension, or full axle leaf spring type. The model of car, age or even country of manufacturing, would be of help to answer this question.
Pull the 4 nuts that hold the u-bolts to the differential then slide the differential slightly forward on the spline to remove the U-Joint from the differential. You may need to pry it out. If it's a 2 piece drive shaft with a center "carrier" bearing, remove the 2 bolts of the carrier bearing, then slide the splined shaft out of the transmission. It might be a good idea to have a pan or oil absorbent material available to catch the oil that will drip from the transmission tailshaft. A central differential for a four-wheel drive motor vehicle is provided on a pair of axles for right and left drive wheels. The differential has a cylindrical differential case connected to a final gear of a transmission, a pair of carriers provided in the differential case one of which is connected to the drive wheels and the other carrier is operatively connected to the other drive wheels. A pair of annular side gears are securely provided in the differential case, and an annular center gear rotatably mounted in the differential case between the side gears. A pair of planetary gears are rotatably supported in the corresponding carrier. Each planetary gear comprises a pair of planet pinions, one of which is engaged with the side gear and the other is engaged with the center gear.
To remove the differential from an 8.8 Ford axle, start by draining the differential fluid and removing the cover by unbolting it. Next, disconnect the driveshaft and the axle shafts if necessary. Then, remove the differential carrier by unbolting the ring gear and the bearing caps, ensuring to mark their positions for reassembly. Carefully slide the differential assembly out of the housing, taking care not to damage the bearings or seals.
Depending on the vehicle, a diff bearing kit is a kit you can purchase that contains all the parts to freshen up a differential. This usually includes the pinion bearings and races, pinion bearing shims, pinion seal, pinion crush sleeve, pinion lock nut, carrier bearings and races, carrier bearing shims and a new gasket.
To replace the front differential bearing on a 2005 K1500, first, lift and securely support the vehicle. Remove the front driveshaft, differential cover, and drain the fluid. Next, remove the differential carrier by unbolting it from the housing, then replace the old bearings with new ones using a bearing puller and press for proper installation. Finally, reassemble the differential, refill it with fluid, and reinstall the driveshaft before lowering the vehicle.
the air pump is on the back of the front bumper, the rest in your front axil inbtween you ring gear and your carrier
Could be the carrier bearings or pinion bearings in the differential(s). Mine was the wife and kids.
