To install a Dorman steering shift tube on a 1995 Ford Aerostar, first, disconnect the battery and remove the steering column covers. To the power steering pump reservoir located on the drivers side of the engine near the front of the engine . It will have a cap that has a little plastic dipstick on the bottom of the cap
theres a (probably white) button under the steering wheel, push up on the button while turning the key
Check the power steering pump for fluid as well as make sure that the pump is working and the belt it tight. If the pump is not working then the steering will be hard to turn.
The clock spring would be inside the plastic steering column cover ( it allows you to turn the steering wheel without " breaking " the wiring connection to your horn and steering wheel mounted cruise control buttons )
I assume the power steering pump for the 4.0 liter V6 engine is the same as my 1995 Ford Explorer : On the drivers side of the engine , near the front , it's one of the belt driven accessories ( it has a removable cap that allows you to add power steering fluid if needed , to the power steering fluid reservoir which is kind of a pale yellow colored " plastic " reservoir )
The 1995 ford Aerostar did not come stock with a factory amp. If your van has an amp then it was added aftermarket.
