The fluid capacity of a GM 8.2 rear end varies slightly depending on the specific model and configuration, but it generally holds about 2.5 to 3 quarts of gear oil. It's important to use the correct type of gear oil, typically a high-quality,API GL-5-rated 80W-90 gear oil. Always check the manufacturer's specifications for the most accurate information.
yes the rear end is the same from 82-2002 the breaks and gear ratio's are what makes the difference
I have a marago 750 lol. I didn't know it but my maxim 82 750 had the shocks, calipers, rear tire and possibly tree of a virago. I discovered it when getting break pads.
If you are using an automatic, the TH 350 with a shift kit is a wonderful and stout choice. The rear end is a bit more wide open. If you are looking for a posi rear end the GM 12 bolt can be made to fit, or the Ford 9 inch is a favorite. If the S-10 had a v6 you might be able to leave the stock rear end in until it burns out. You might also look for a rear end from a newer S10 that has a 4.3 engine, as they should handle things alright without having to have the rear end modified to fit the truck.
The rear hatch can be replaced by another hatch from an 82 to 92 firebird or camaro.
If the battery tests out to have 82% of it's rated capacity, the battery is on it's way out. I would replace it soon before you get stuck.
Down the same tube that holds trans dipstick.
It should fit because they had the same front end from 82 - 90

Actually, as a non-integer square root of a number, 82 is an irrational number. It has no end.
