It provides the phase shift necessary to have a rotating magnetic field for the rotor to spin.

Answer #2:

single phase induction motor can create pulsating magnetic field. due to single phase forward and backward torque created also they cancel led each other.so we want to extra force to rotate rotor either forward or reverse direction or we can give rotating magnetic field by using capacitor(phase split)

How single-phase induction motor classified?

The single phase induction motors are made self starting by providing an additional flux by some additional means. Now depending upon these additional means the single phase induction motors are classified as: 1.Split phase induction motor. 2.Capacitor start inductor motor. 3.Capacitor start capacitor run induction motor. 4. Shaded pole induction motor.

What is the function of a capacitor in motor circuit?

Mostly capacitor is used in the induction motors to improve the power factor , and make them to work as a self starting machine. In the small size , capacity dc motor has capacitor across it to smooth running without spark

What is a CSIR motor?

A CSIR motor stands for Capacitor Start-Induction Run motor, which is a type of single-phase induction motor commonly used in household appliances like refrigerators and air conditioners. It uses a capacitor to provide the starting torque needed to initiate rotation, then operates as a standard induction motor once up to speed.

What is the common application for capacitors in electric motors?

There are 2 types of capacitor including starting capacitor and running capacitor running capacitor are used to improve the power factor of motor. starting capacitor used in split phase induction motor . starting capacitor may isolate from motor,s starting winding through of centrifugal switch after getting motor 90% of it,s rated speed.

What are the capacitor effects on a single phase induction motor?

As anything to do with timing values for an electronic system of controlling a motor. Based on the question, the simple answer is that the capacitor causes a 90 degree lead which allows the motor to have a magnetic shift which causes the motor to start rotation.
