Probably a problem with the transmission "valve body". Have it checked out with a transmission specialist.
it needs a new transmission
Probably the reverse switch is bad or out of alignment. You'll need a manual to find the reverse switch. It'll be somewhere on the shifter, on the transmission, or possibly somewhere in between.
countershaft bearing could be problem
only thing i know that will make brkes grind, is worn out brakesmaybe have em checked at a different mechanic
I wonder if it might be the starter motor not fully disengaging and as soon as the flywheel turns, it's kicking it back.
Brakes or wheel bearings. Have it looked into ASAP.
Short circuit somewhere in the reverse-light or even the reverse switch itself. Other causes are also possible.
You can try disconnecting the battery, leaving it off for 5 or more minutes. If that doesn't work, check the wire connecters on the transfer case. if you havent already, try switching when you are in neutral then putting it in reverse when it is in 2 wheel drive
Hey K==It will start grinding in reverse and hard to shift in foreward gears. GoodluckJoe
I have a 1992 Chevy berretta 3.1 V6 and when it is in park and reverse and neutral it sounds like there is a grinding noise right below the shifter I know that the linkage needs adjusting any ideas
Switching the hot and neutral wires in a circuit, causing a reverse polarity situation, can lead to potential safety hazards. It can result in electrical shock, damage to appliances, and increased risk of fire. It is important to always ensure proper wiring to prevent these risks.
