It's the section right at the rear end where it joins the drive shaft in a rear drive vehicle.
The transmission for the 4x4 has a different tailpiece so the transfer case can be bolted to the transmission The tailpiece on the transmission would have to be changed
I'm not a mechanic / technician but as far as I know , it is just the tailpiece on the transmission that is different . The 4x4 has a different tailpiece that allows the transfer case to bolt to the transmission
The tailpiece holds one end of the strings.

You have to change the tailpiece on the transmission to one from a 4x4 transmission so the transfer case will bolt to it There is probably more to it than that, depending on the transmission. Usually the output shaft of the transmission has to be changed, and that means disassembly of the entire transmission. Research the exact transmission and transfer case combination before you buy a 2 wheel drive transmission and HOPE it will fit.
Mark driveshaft, yoke, and transmission tailpiece so driveshaft will be re-installed in same location to maintain factory balance Remove and discard small "U" bolts at differential yoke Pry driveshaft out of yoke and up on to transmission tailpiece Pull driveshaft off of transmission Easiest to bring driveshaft to auto parts/machine shop to have new "u" joint pressed into driveshaft Replace in reverse order using new "u" bolts
6.5 inches
carefully pry it open with your fingers or use a plastic object. You don't want to use a piece of metal because you could bend the metal tailpiece.
A 1 1/4 tailpiece extension in plumbing fixtures is used to extend the length of the tailpiece, which connects the sink drain to the plumbing system. This extension helps accommodate different sink heights and ensures a proper fit for the drain system.
A stop bar tailpiece on a guitar can improve sustain, tuning stability, and overall tone by enhancing the transfer of vibrations from the strings to the guitar body.
The purpose of a drain tailpiece in a plumbing system is to connect the sink drain to the P-trap, allowing water and waste to flow out of the sink and into the sewer system.
