To set the timing on a Toyota 22R engine find the distributor. The engine will have marks at which the distributor can be set. The OEM setting for a 22R engine is 5 degrees.
To determine the proper function of the vacuum advance on a 22R motor, you can use a timing light to check the ignition timing at idle and then rev the engine to observe if the timing advances as expected. Disconnect the vacuum advance line and check for a change in timing; it should revert to a base timing setting. Additionally, you can apply vacuum to the advance unit using a hand-held vacuum pump to see if the diaphragm moves and the timing advances accordingly. If the timing does not change or the diaphragm is unresponsive, the vacuum advance may be faulty.
Are you trying to imitate Transformers or something?
1985 was the last year of the rear wheel drive celicas. As far as I know, no front wheel drive celica used the 22r motor. If it truly is a 22R motor it will fit the pickup, provided the pickup has a 22R motor. Some of the later ones have a different 4 cylinder or V6 motors. Of course, the induction and exhaust systems will be different in the car and pickup, but those from the pickup should bolt to the replacement 22R motor.
Main caps should be torqued at 76 foot pounds for the 22r.
No, from what I know for sure, Pre-85 22r blocks have a dual timing chain which is stronger and lasts longer. Also not 100% sure but I read there is a difference in height of the blocks as well. Pre-85 block with dual timing chain is needed to do a 22r/20r hybrid.
The timing setting for a 1986 Toyota with a 22R engine is typically set at 5 degrees before top dead center (BTDC) when the engine is at idle and warmed up. This setting may vary slightly depending on specific configurations or modifications, so it's always a good idea to consult the vehicle's service manual for the most accurate information. Make sure to disconnect the timing advance vacuum hose when setting the timing for proper adjustment.
yes this will work but you might need to change your motor mounts
firingorder for 1986 22r motor on igniter cap
some of them had double timing chains and some had single. as long as the new one is the same style then it will work.
under the oil filter
Around 4.5 qts.
