In a fluid drive system, such as those found in certain automatic transmissions, a specialized Transmission Fluid is typically used. This fluid is designed to provide lubrication, cooling, and hydraulic pressure to facilitate the operation of the fluid coupling and other components. It often contains additives to enhance performance, reduce wear, and prevent oxidation. Common types include Dexron or Mercon fluids, but specific requirements can vary based on the manufacturer and design of the system.
DEXTRON III Fluid
It depends on how much you put in. If only a few drops, there will be little effect.Check the oil level and top off with motor oil if needed. If you used transmission fluid in an oil change, this would be very bad for the engine. Tranny fluid does not have the same protective properties that is required of motor oil and you risk engine seizure. If you used transmission fluid in an oil change do not drive it until the fluid has been flushed from the oil system with lots of fresh oil
gear oil
through the spedo drive hole once the spedo drive removed. If auto, the oil is added down the dip stick hole. If manual, the speedo drive is used as a measure. Fill 'till the oil covers the drive cog when the drive is used as a dip stick. Chris
It's the oil/fluid that is in the rear drive axle (and front axle on 4x4).

Hydraulic oil and hydraulic fluid are different. Hydraulic fluid is used in small systems such as car brakes. Hydraulic oil is used in large systems such as loaders.
I would NOT DRIVE THE CAR. You can start it then change the oil immediatly. Transmisson oil is a great cleaner but not a very good lubricant for an engine.
