Possibly weak u-joints or transmission mounts
transmission down shift after fuild change
It could be that the transmission fluid is low, or it could be that mechanical parts have worn down. If so, it may be time for a replacement.
Are you sure it is the transmission that is clunking? It could be the u-joints on the drive shaft that are making the noise. When the u-joints on the drive shaft are bad, there is an audble clunk when you accelerate and when slowing down (basically the same motions you go through when shifting gears).
A transmission may clunk when slowing down due to several reasons, including low transmission fluid levels, worn or damaged components like gears or mounts, or issues with the transmission control module. These problems can cause rough shifting or delayed engagement of gears, resulting in a clunking sound. It's essential to have the transmission inspected by a professional to diagnose the issue accurately and prevent further damage.
There are several things that can cause your Honda Accord station wagon automatic transmission not to shift down. The most common cause is low transmission fluid.
the two sensors on a transmission communicate with the computer to the engine and tells the transmission when to shift up or down....
2000 Dodge Ram Van need help my transmission down shifts and won't upshift
Type your answer here... My Allison transmission will only down shift, whats wrong with it?
1 down 5 up
Failing transmission
A very likely possibility other than problems within the transmission itself would be the transmission mount. This is a rubber bushing in a metal bracket that supports the transmission by connecting it to the frame. When the bushing becomes worn it allows the transmission to move and it is very noticeable because the hard shifting of an automatic transmission is masked or absorbed by this bushing. Hope that helps, good luck!
Yes that is a must. The d-tent cable is what controls the transmission line pressure and makes the transmission kick down into passing gear. If it's not hooked up correctly the trans. will shift funny and the fluid pressure will be incorrect and burn the clutches up in the transmission. MUST BE HOOKED UP. and adjusted correctly.
