There is a pressure switch that runs the clutch.
If there is not enough freon in the system the switch will never allow the clutch to turn on.
It is possible, but there is a large difference in the dash/wiring/etc. Besides the dash, the wirhing harness for the dash as well as the harness for the motor and the radio harness will need to be changed.

Could be the clutch is gone. If that is the problem, you can have just the clutch changed, but don't wait too long. If it is the bearing, then have to change the compressor. When it is running, you will see the clutch wobble. The clutch can be changed with the compressor on the car. There is room.
