To silence a whining differential, you can use a high-quality gear oil specifically designed for differentials, such as synthetic gear oil with a suitable viscosity rating (commonly 75W-90 or 80W-90). Look for products that contain additives like friction modifiers to enhance performance and reduce noise. Always consult your vehicle's manual for the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure compatibility. Regular maintenance and checking for proper fluid levels can also help reduce whining sounds.

I use rotella in my engine oil. The hydraulic/ Tran i use a universal oil. The front drive diff I use 80 wt gear oil. I have a TL2301 4 wheel drive

need to replace rear diff oil,use genuine oil only, will fix problem.
You can use synthetic 75W-90 if you are using a gasket between the diff cover and the housing. If you are using RTV sealant with no gasket, use the conventional gear oil 80W-90. It seems the synthetic lube dissolves the RTV sealer.
Hi Im assuming you mean the diff gear oils? We live on a property that has a river/ford to cross that is about 50cm deep or deeper. The only way is to increase the length of the diff breather hoses and change diff oils and seals on a regular basis.
No. He would use diff paint, diff paper, copper, metalz, chems, etc.
Yes, C Diff is a contact acquired infection.
I am quite fond of peace and silence.
I'm not sure measurement wise......but................... As in most diffs....you check the gear oil by opening a large plug screw, located on the side of the diff, with a 3/8 , or a 1/2 inch ratchet driver. The gear oil should just start to spill a little bit out of the hole after you take out the plug. If it does not spill ANY oil.....THEN you are low. Just use your finger , stick it downward in the hole, and you will feel the oil level. (seriously)
