The vehicle speed sensor is on the top of the rear axle. The trans output speed sensor is on the driver side tail housing of the trans,
in trans dipstick tube,(use funnel)

Back of the trans, in the housing that the passenger axle goes into.
Service fill is about 5 quarts. Dry filll is about 12 quarts.
It is the transmission output speed sensor, which is located on the front of the trans far driver side.
Empty fill it will hold near 12 quarts

The speed sensor needs replaced. It is on the trans.
A 1999 Dodge Ram transmission does not have an input speed sensor
