The brake shoes may be completely worn or the brake rotors may be warped, due to a caliper being frozen and continually dragging. This needs professional repairs, take it to the shop right away.
It could be that the brake pads are dragging on the rotors.
Remove brake caliper and caliper frame. Rotors are now free.
Remove wheels. Remove 2 bolts securing brake caliper. Slide caliper off and support. Rotors should slide off.
Remove caliper, then caliper mounting frame. Works on most vehicles.
To replace the front brake rotors on a Ford Freestyle, first, safely lift the vehicle and remove the front wheels. Then, take off the caliper by unbolting it and hanging it securely to avoid stress on the brake line. Remove the caliper bracket, then slide off the old rotor. Install the new rotor, reattach the caliper and bracket, and ensure everything is tightened properly before replacing the wheels and lowering the vehicle.
They are very easy if your a do-it-yourselfer! The hub is free floating, which means that the rotors are only held on by the wheel studs, brake calipers and wheels themselves. You undo the brake caliper and they slip out, but you might need a brake piston pusher, they are between 6 and ten bucks at supercheap etc. Two bolts are undone per caliper, im assuming you are replacing brake pads aswell!!! Once you have the caliper undone move it to the side and the rotor slides straight off.
You do not need a torque wrench when replacing brake pads and rotors. Some of the tools needed to change the rotors and pads are the c-clamp, sockets, wrench, grease, and brake cleaner.
