The real problem is manually shifting from gear to gear with an automatic transmission.
If you are referring to the automatic upshift, there may be a problem with the EGR system or vacuum system.
It will bolt up, but the internal sensors are wired differently. So it will not shift.
You add A/T transmission fluid at the same place you check it.
Mopar ATF+4
O2 sensor or vacuum leak
no, try turning on the engine Yes, the engine computer controls the shifting of the trans.
no, it wouldn't be worth the effert. The auto requires an oil cooler different linkage, and a different engine computer than the manual uses.
Automatic Dodge Neons had a 3-speed automatic transmission.
A518 is the transmission if it is an automatic, and if it is a manual then it is a Getrag 360.
If your checking the level of the tranny fluid in an automatic you need to turn on the engine let it idle in park NEUTRAL and pull the dipstick.
Chrysler/Dodge does
If it is an automatic it will be a 727.
