mine needed Power Steering fluid
A groaning noise when turning in circles in your Ford Explorer could indicate issues with the power steering system, such as low fluid levels or a failing power steering pump. It might also be related to worn-out suspension components or CV joints, which can create noise during sharp turns. Additionally, if the tires are rubbing against the wheel wells or suspension parts, that could also produce a groaning sound. It's advisable to have a mechanic inspect the vehicle to diagnose and address the issue properly.
Check the level of the power steering fluid. A low level or no level of fluid will cause the groaning noise.

The front wheel bearing is bad. The sound will be more pronounced when turning one way but not the other. The bad bearing is on the side of the car opposite the turning since more weight is on that side of the car when turning.
