A new bushing can be found at many GM dealers. Search your area for the dealership that has taken over the Saturn parts inventory.
If you are willing to install used parts, some used bushings are still in reasonable condition, but be selective.
Another PerspectiveI agree that those bushings are available, but they are exactly like the bushings that failed. The ones I recommended are of a different composition and are guaranteed to not fail for the life of the vehicle. You can't say that about the GM replacement parts. To replace the bushing on the shift cable for a 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette, first, ensure the vehicle is in park and the ignition is off. Remove the shift cable from the transmission and the shifter assembly by detaching any clips or retaining rings. Replace the old bushing with a new one, ensuring it's securely in place, and then reattach the shift cable to both the transmission and shifter assembly. Finally, check the cable alignment and operation before securing everything back in place.
The 1999 Chevrolet Malibu automatic transmission shift cable has adjustment nuts on each end of the cable. Turning the adjustment nuts will lengthen or shorten the shifting cable.
Shift Cable
yes...available upon request.
On a 1999 Saturn vehicle, the backup light switch is located on top of the shift housing, which is situated on the top of the transmission. This switch requires a 7/8' wrench for removal.
cable runs through the firewall under the radio. Unclip both ends of the cable. Pull through, its easier to pull from the engine bay
there is no cable,it is run from vehicle speed sensors through the bcm to the cluster assembly.you most likely have cluster problems.
They don't use linkage, they use a cable. The cable goes between the shift lever mechanism to the transmission.
Front of the transmission, the thing the shift cable attaches to.
The cable/linkage between the shift lever and transmission is likely broken or disconnected
Saturn - 1999 is rated/received certificates of: USA:R
To reset the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) on a 1999 Saturn, disconnect the negative battery cable and leave it disconnected for about 15 minutes. This allows the PCM to clear any stored trouble codes and resets its adaptive memory. After that, reconnect the battery cable, and your PCM will be reset. It's also a good idea to drive the vehicle for a while to allow the PCM to relearn its parameters.
