It is under the harmonic balancer, the large pulley on the end of the crank shaft. To remove, jack up the right front of the car. Remove the tire. Remove the plastic splash shield. Remove the serpentine belt before you jack the car. Use an air impact wrench to remove the large bolt in the end of the crank. Use a puller to remove the balancer. DO NOT try to pry the balancer off. Metal fins on the back side and you will destroy them. The crank sensor is now visible and can be easily removed. Mark the old sensor's position and install the new one in the exact same position. It has room for adjustment. It has to line up perfectly with the metal fins on the back side of the balancer. If you don't have an air impact wrench, better borrow one. No good way to keep the engine from turning using a socket and pull bar.
It's just behind the harmonic balancer.
check crank sensor
Behind the crank pulley that your belt rides on!
show a diagram of a buick park avenue crankshaft sensor
IS CALL CAMSHAFT SENSOR AND IS LOCATED ON THE RIGTH SIDE OF THE ENGINE , ABOVE THE CRANK PULLEY You will have a crank sensor, but it won't have a cam sensor. it dose have a cam sensor, on the timing cover left sind of water pump

If it cuts off after it gets hot you need to replace the crank sensor. More info needed Hint fixya.
My 92 PA did the same thing. I had to replace the crank sensor and then the cam sensor. Either one can cause this problem.
