Read the owner's manual that came with this new vehicle. The oil filter is a cartridge filter not a spin on.
Note: The owner's manual doesn't show where it is, please answer questions when you actually know for sure. The location of the oil filter is below the oil cap and below the big plastic cover over the top of the engine. Its on the driver's side and it about 3-4" round black plastic top with a large nut on it situated on an aluminum part. Turn it counter-clockwise to remove it then replace the filter inside with the proper filter.
