Look down the right hand side of the engine on top of the gearbox and you'll find a sensor held in place with a metal bracket and two 10mm bolts.
The crankshaft position sensor must be behind the timing belt cover next to the crankshaft and behind the crankshaft pulley. The camshaft position sensor is again under the timing belt cover next to the camshaft and behind and the camshaft pulley. Is it the same place in 2000 Camry 4Cyl? Do you have pictures of the location? Hard or easy to replace, and what tools do I need? Thanks alot
crank sensor is located at the top of the transmission bell housing, two hex bolts that hold the crank sensor in place.
Some place in the world i think
The position sensor is at the bottom/back of the engine, where it joins the gearbox. It is held in place by one bolt and connects via a multi plug. It gets its information from markings on the flywheel and this is sent to the ECU to monitor engine timing.
rear of engine block, drivers side, midway between top and bottom of block, one 10mm bolt holds it in place
The first place I would look would be the crankshaft position sensor
The Crankshaft Position sensor is mounted on the bottom right side of the crankshaft pulley, mounted on the timing chain cover. Only 2 bolts hold it in place and has a 4 wire connector plugged into the sensor. Hope this helps
I don't think that year has one. But if it does then it will be in the passenger side of the timing cover on the front of the engine right behind the harmonic balancer. 1 bolt holds it in place.
To change the crankshaft position sensor of the 1999 Tahoe, you must first disconnect the negative battery ground cable to avoid accidents. Then, remove the wire harness from the sensor, disconnect the wires, and pry out the bolt. Place the new sensor in the same area, replace the bolts, and reconnect the wires. Test the sensor to see if it is working.
Ours was an '87 2.8L V6 and it was located on the intake. The knock sensor on a 2.8L V6 is on the lower side of the engine block on the firewall side. It has a pipe thread and screws into the block. The crankshaft position sensor is nearby, it is held in place by a single bolt.
The crank position sensor is located on the bottom left hand side of the engine (when seated in the driver's seat). It is secured in place by two (2) 10mm screws above and to the right of the crank shaft main pulley.
