To add brake fluid to a 1989 Dodge Spirit, locate the brake fluid reservoir, which is typically found near the back of the engine bay on the driver's side, just behind the master cylinder. Before you add brake fluid, are you SURE you need to add some? Because as brake pads wear, the brake fluid level goes down, but the brake pads need to be replaced then, BEFORE any brake fluid is added. Otherwise, when the brake pads ARE replaced, there will be too much brake fluid in the reservoir, and it will flow out when the pistons are pushed back into it's bore, to make room for the new pads. -Tom.

It goes in the master brake cylinder reservoir. The cap of the reservoir says to use only Dot3 brake fluid. This cylinder is accessible on the driver's side of the car when you open the hood of the car. Do not confuse it with the power steering reservoir which is also on the driver's side. The power steering reservoir is the one closest to the front of the car and the cap on it also tells you to use only Honda power steering fluid.
