It is in the fuse box under the hood next to the battery.
A standard airline power jack provides 12V power just like the cigarette lighter in your car. If you have a DC (car) power supply for your computer already, there are adapters available which convert the cigarette-lighter plug to the smaller airline plug.
A 12 volt power supply outlet.
The power outlet/cig lighter fuse is fuse#14 in the Power Distibution Center. The molded plastic PDC housing is located in the left front corner of the engine compartment, just rearward of the air cleaner housing and left of the battery.
See if there is something in the cigar lighter housing like some change. Other wise you have a short to ground in the power supply somewhere
There is a thermal fuse that connects to the lighter holder--must remove covers in shift area to access itThis assumes you have already checked the fuses under the hood which supply the power via the cig lighter relay. The same relay supplys your stero so if your stero work you likely have voltage there --also so if you cig lighter light and lighter ring are lit.
can't handle capacity. Check the fuse for that power supply, it may be blown. I have had problems with Magellan power cords. Had to replace twice.
In a caravan, the fuse box is typically located near the entrance, often behind a panel or inside a storage compartment for easy access. It may also be found near the main power supply or control panel, depending on the caravan's design. Always consult the owner's manual for the exact location, as it can vary between models and manufacturers.
The fuse is behind the coin holder (pull the coin holder out, you will see the fuses) on the driver side, 15A blue fuse at the right bottom corner. There are actually two fuses for this issue. They are both located behind the coin holder next to the hood release latch. They are both 15A blue fuses. One is the cigarette lighter fuse which protects the clock and the upper lighter outlet, the other is called the 12V power supply and it protects the lower lighter outlet and the rear lighter outlet.
There is a 12 volt female accessory port (or two depending on year/model). My '04 Solara has two, one in the center dash and another in the center console storage area. You can use either one for a cigarette lighter. You can purchase the lighter at any auto supply store. One little rub, on the '04 and later (not sure about the gen I Solara) there's no ashtray. You could use the cup-holder (drop in a cup). It'd be a lot less hassle just to stop smoking. ;) Cheers
The actual lighter is just a coil of metal that is specifically designed to provide enough resistance to electricity that when it is passed through it heats up, similar to the design of an incandescent light bulb. It's not storing electricity it's just resisting it enough to cause it to heat up.
The problem is probably in the element, the part that gets hot, not in the socket, the part that is in the dashboard. Most auto supply stores carry replacement lighters, or you can find them in a junkyard. Your plug in is probably shorted out or maybe you have some foreign metal in the socket. Try plugging in another lighter. If the fuse blows without the plug in being pushed in, the socket is bad.
The 12 volt power and ground connector for the original factory lighter should be in the wire harness in the location where the unit would have been if it had one. Your local auto parts store can sell you a replacement lighter to fit your vehicle. Just install the new unit, plug in the existing power supply connector and install a fuse in the correct slot and your done.
