last week i installed a new radio in my sister tercel , the car didnt had a radio at all , the rear speaker wire was missing in her car, i guess Toyota didnt intall the wire if u havnt buy the radio option.
solution: buy 4 wire, long enough to get from the radio to the trunk, next step, make your way to the trunk by removing the plastic trim along the door frame and then take the wires under the back seat and tadam the wires are in the trunk
There should still be rear speaker connections, I think you just failed to find them. My Tercel also lacked rear speakers but had the wires tied into the rest of the wiring harness with speaker attachment clips on them. You need to look where the jack is stored and somewhere (that escapes me right now) on the other side as well.

On my 1990 Tercel it turns counter-clockwise. It's in there tight, but mine came out. Spray some penetrating oil on it first and let it soak. You don't want to break it off when it comes out. Especially if it's been in there for awhile.
