In a 1997 Mazda Protege, the fuse for the cigarette lighter is located in the fuse box under the dashboard on the driver's side. You can find the fuse box by removing the cover beneath the steering column. The specific fuse for the cigarette lighter is typically labeled in the fuse diagram found on the cover or in the owner's manual. Make sure to check and replace it with the appropriate amperage if it's blown.

There are two fuses for both cigarette lighters on my Mazda 6, 2004. The 15A fuses are located in the fuse box, located under the steering wheel on the left side, just above the driver's floor mat. The fuse slot for the front lighter is #10, and #14 is for the rear accessory lighter.
It is an inline fuse behind the socket. I don't know anything else about it but here is a post I found. http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123634961

In a 2002 Mazda Millenia, the cigarette lighter fuse is located in the fuse box under the dashboard on the driver's side. To access it, remove the cover of the fuse box and look for the fuse labeled specifically for the cigarette lighter, which is usually marked in the owner's manual. If you need to replace it, ensure the car is turned off and use a fuse puller for safety.
A broken cigarette lighter fuse in a Mazda 5 can be a nuisance. A burnt fuse is a common cause for this problem and can be found in slot 43 of the passenger fuse box.
You can find the fuse box diagram on page 6-10 of your owners manual.
