The ground wire for the heater blower is typically connected to the vehicle's chassis or the blower motor housing itself. You can usually find it near the blower motor assembly, often attached to a screw or bolt that connects it to a metal part of the car. It's important to check the vehicle's service manual for the specific location for your model, as it can vary. If you’re experiencing issues, ensure the ground connection is clean and secure to avoid electrical problems.
You can test your heater blower motor by connecting a ground wire to the ground. Connect a power wire, from the battery to the positive post. If the blower motor turns it is working, and if it does not it is bad.
Run a new one from the blower motor body to ground
You can unplug the blower motor and run a jumper wire to test the blower motor. If it is grounded through the plug you'll have to run a ground wire to it also. Blower Motor tested good. The Problem was the Blower Motor Controller which was located on the firewall just below the Heater Hoses. Thanks for responses to question.
does a water heater require a ground wire?
You can check the blower motor by unplugging the wire harness and connecting a jumper wire directly from the battery positive terminal to the blower motor. Be very careful to avoid touching the jumper wire to ground to avoid arcing. If the blower motor runs then there may be a blown fuse, bad resistor pack, wiring issues or bad switch.
On my 72 nova the wire going to the blower looks to be purple.
To replace the heater blower motor: First unplug the wire connectors. Then remove the screws and the motor will pull out. Reverse the process to reinstall the blower motor.
The a/c heater blower motor resister is located in the vehicle on the passengers side inside the housing next to the blower motor...............Remove the blower motor resistor wire harness connector.Remove the blower motor resistor screws.Remove the blower motor resistor.
Blown Fuse, loose or disconnected wire, or defective blower motor resistor pack.
It could be a couple of things, the ground wire to the motor may have become disconnected or over heated and melted or the positive wire for the blower which is located behind the radio has melted, which seems to be a problem with Saturn and was a problem with my 2000 Saturn ls. The wire is connected to a harness right behind the radio and is yellow.
Use a jumper wire from the battery + (pos) terminal to the positive on the blower motor, and run a - (Ground) wire from ground on the motor, to chassis or frame.
There is a loose wire somewhere in the circuit - tapping the heater makes the wire complete the circuit !
