I have an 88 wrangler and my ICM is on the inside of my driver's side fender, under the coolant overflow jug. You have to take the jug out to get to it. Though yours may be different, i know some things were changed on the YJ after "91, like FI. Home this helps someone
You would have to change the fuel and ignition systems over to a non computer system.
A 1997 Wrangler doesn't have a BCM. (body control module) It does have a PCM (powertrain control module) which is behind the battery.
It' on the left hand side of the firewall, there is a black plastic cover on it that has to be removed to gain access.

The Electronic Control Module (computer) on a 1989 Jeep Wrangler is house in a metal case on the firewall. It is on the passenger side of the engine compartment.

No! The ECM is the Electronic Control Module (Computer), sometimes called ECU, Electronic Control Unit. The ignition switch is just that, the switch that controls the engine ignition, the power to the starter, starting and shutting the engine off, and power to the accessories.
