The starter for a 97 Regal will be located on the side of the engine for most motor sizes. It is close to the rear of the engine near the bellhousing.
The starter and solenoid are mounted together on the bottom front side of the engine
To remove the starter on a 1997 Buick LeSabre, first disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts. Then, locate the starter, which is typically mounted on the engine near the transmission. Remove the electrical connections from the starter, followed by the mounting bolts securing it to the engine. Finally, carefully pull the starter out of its position and replace it if necessary.
i belive its on the back side of the engine bolts to the transmission
