The vacuum leak will cause the engine to run lean.
Find the PCV valve towards the rear of the engine, and remove the PCV valve. Remove the rubber vacuum line, and discard the old Valve. Connect the vacuum line to the new valve and put the valve in its place.?æ
If you are looking for the location of the PCV valve, check the link to the left of this answer. It is in the upper-left part of the picture, which is the right side of the engine, as you look at it from in front of the van.If you want to know how to replace the PCV valve, just disconnect the vacuum line from the top of the valve and then pull it out.Installation is the reverse of this procedure.Take Care,Greg
The PCV valve is located on the top of the right (passenger side) valve cover. It's connected via a vacuum line to a port on the front of the throttle body.
On a 2004 Ford 5.4L engine, the PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) vacuum line is typically located on the valve cover. It connects the PCV valve, which is usually found on the driver's side valve cover, to the intake manifold. The line helps to regulate the flow of gases from the crankcase back into the intake system for combustion. Make sure to check for any signs of wear or damage, as leaks can affect engine performance.
There should be a vacuum hose that runs from the top of the engine down the front, by the radiator. It's where the two parts of the vacuum hose come together.
air intake to crankcase, crankcase to pcv line
top of the valve cover front and center. there is two big vacuum hoses and the pcv is the forward most (front) one.
The PCV valve is located on the top of the valve cover. There will be a large vacuum line connected to it.
If the vacuum hose connected to the PCV valve was disconnected, it would idle poorly if at all, otherwise, no.
I had the same problem with my '97 Astro van, the plastic vacuum line from the PCV valve to the vacuum cannister underneath the front end had broken. It might not be that vacuum line, but you do have a vacuum leak somewhere.
Remove the vacuum hose from your 1989 Oldsmobile 3.8 liter engine PCV valve. Remove the retaining bolts from the valve. Reverse the process to install the new PCV valve.
