the crankshaft position sensor is located at the underneath side of the engine right at the bottom of the timing chain cover / front of oil pan
Lower front of engine, behind crankshaft balancer, best accessed from underneath.
It is bolted to the side of the timing cover right behind the harmonic balancer. That is the bottom pulley on the front of the engine.
It is bolted into the passenger side of the engine block BEHIND the starter. You can not see are get to it UNTILL you remove the STARTER.
The Camshaft sensor is located in the distributor.
It is on the lower right hand side of the throttle body. There are 2 sensor on that side , it is the lower one.
On the engine front cover perpendicular to the crankshaft target wheel. CMFI engines should read a 800 to 1200 ohms. Also check for voltage coming from the PCM not sure what voltage should be but my guess is 5 volts
Up front, to the passenger side of the bottom pulley (damper). It is best seen and reached from under the front of the vehicle.
It is the bottom sensor on the right side of the throttle plate housing. That is the part that all the duct work comes from the air filter box and hooks to the engine is.
No it will not. The 96 vortec has a crankshaft sensor and alot of other sensors on the engine that is required so the transmission will work that will not interchange with the 92 engine. Even the fuel pump would have to be changed. You must put a VORTEC engine back in the 96 so everything will work correctly.
This is what you will need. Vortec Heads,Intake, distributor, front timing cover, crankshaft sensor and 60 to 66 LB. fuel pump Ect.. If you are talking about putting a vortec engine in a 95 then you will need alot more. Let me know what you are wanting to do and I'll help you.
The sensor is down on the front of the oil pan just behind the crankshaft pully, which is located at the front of the engine.
It sure can.
