I own a 2006 Dodge Stratus, and I also had a problem with my cigarette lighter socket. I located the exact fuse by accident the other day.
-The owner's manual DOES NOT specify a fuse for the cigarette lighter.
-The internal fuse box cover DOES NOT specify a fuse for the cigarette lighter. (This fuse box is located below and to the left of the steering wheel. Access by opening the driver door, then pull the cover off to reveal the fuse box. The fuse diagram is under the cover.)
-The fuse for the cigarette lighter is located in ANOTHER FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD next to the positive (red) jumper cable terminal. Remove the cover by pinching the tabs inward. The cigarette lighter fuse is a 20 amp fuse on the bottom row.
check your fuse, if fuse is good most likely the socket, or if the lighter is used often it can also fail.
To remove the cigarette lighter socket in a 2006 Dodge Stratus, first, disconnect the negative battery cable to ensure safety. Then, use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry off the trim surrounding the lighter. After removing the trim, you can access the socket and disconnect the wiring harness attached to it. Finally, unscrew the socket from its mounting and pull it out.
In a 2003 Dodge Stratus, the fuse for the cigarette lighter is located in the fuse box, which is typically found under the dashboard on the driver's side. You can identify the correct fuse by checking the diagram on the fuse box cover, which will indicate the specific fuse for the cigarette lighter, usually labeled as "CIG" or "Lighter." If the fuse is blown, replacing it with a new one of the same amperage should restore functionality.
Its not below the dash where it normally is. Open the hood and it will be by the drivers side that says fuse box.
If you can charge a cellphone in the lighter socket, then the lighter is no good. If a cellphone won't charge, then the lighter cylinder is no good. Both are available at any autoparts store.
If you open your driver side door and look at left side of panel. There is a removable panel there and the cover has a diagram showing what the fuses control. If you remove it, be advised that it also controls the cigarette lighter. Easy to change.
NOT SURE WHY (HAVE AN 04 DODGE TOO). Must be linked in with the other battery operated items that only work if the ignition is in the on position or fully on.
Yes there is why?
It has a specific fuse on the fuse panel under your steering wheel. Replace with specified AMPS and check.
The fuse for the cigarette lighter on a 2004 Dodge Neon is under the hood. It is fuse #14 in the power distribution center.
If it's for the 4 door sedan, then you want to go under the hood and pop the top of your battery case off. It doesn't take much to do so. Next you'll want locate fuse #2. That's the one that controls the lighter outlet. If you're looking for the 2 door...I have no clue.
