This is done to restict the coolant flow and force more thru the intake manifold around the throat for better control of the choke warm up period
The EGR valve on a 2000 Ford Windstar is located on the intake manifold near the firewall. It is typically located to the left of the main throttle body or slightly lower than the throttle body. On the passenger side it is located on the side of the intake manifold closest to the firewall. On the driver side it is located on the side of the intake manifold closest to the engine.
It seems to be directly under the intake manifold, which is closest to the firewall, if you from the drivers side fender you can see about half of it through the holes in the intake manifold
its screwed into the exhaust manifold. On the driver side below the spark plugs closest to the firewall .
Bank 1 sensor 1 is closest to the firewall and located just below the exaust manifold. Easiest to change from under car.
On the side of the engine closest to the firewall. It is almost directly under the middle exhaust port of the exhaust manifold about 2 or 3 inches down.
Rear of engine follow exhaust manifold at rear of motor(closest to firewall) you will see oxygen sensor there.Simple to remove(1 only on this motor)
The O2 sensor is located on the downpipe of the MR2, although you were not specific to which MR2 generation/model you are referring to. Most are located there. The downpipe will be bolted to the exhaust manifold, which is bolted to the side of the motor closest to the firewall.
On my 2003 3.0l Chrysler Sebring coupe the B1S2 position is the lower O2 sensor on the exhaust against the firewall. B1 is bank 1, which is against the firewall, B2 is bank 2, which is closest to the radiator. S1 is right off of the exhaust manifold and S2 is at the bottom past the last converter on both sides. B2S2 is bottom side closest to radiator etc...
Ignition coil 4 is the center coil (plug) on the bank closest to the radiator. FYI, #1 is passenger side, closest to firewall, #3 is center, firewall, #5 is driver's side firewall, etc. Good luck.
Open the engine cover on your car. The cylinder closest to the firewall on the right side is number 1, closest to you on the right is number 2, closest to the firewall on the left is number 3 and closest to you on the left is number 4.
side of engine closest to firewall.
Bank 1 is closest to the firewall
