The most common problem with heat on these cars is a broken blend door. The dealership will want a fortune to repair it but there is a do it yourself alternative kit out there called the Heater Treater. Check them out on Google and ebay and go to the site for full diagnosis and info. hope this helps!
Because your thermostat is probably stuck open
You need to first check that you do not have any vacuum leaks and then check the a/c / heater door operations, if all are working then its possible that you have a slightly clogged heater core.........
get a new heater switch
The HeaterTreater is an after market kit that solves heater and AC for the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Laredo. It is much cheaper than the dealership fix and is easy to install. For diagnosis and info, check out www.heatertreater.net or search eBay for "heatertreater".
Leave it turned off.... doh
Low coolant in the system. Defective heater control valve. Clogged heater core.
Low Coolant? Bad thermostat? Heater core plugged or restricted? Heater core airbound? Heater control cable not working?
underneath the dashboard on the passenger side.
check your coolant level
It could be the thermostat on the engine. If the engine does not warm up adequately the heater will never blow hot air.
Most likely the bad news that you did not want to hear. The heater core is leaking coolant.
heat core. leak. thermostat. no antifreeze.
