97 accord engine accerelating by itself.I had a 1995 Honda accord,which,when stopped at traffic lights,would suddenly rev up to 4500rpm and then go down again,to 1000 rpm,doing this repeatedly.It turned out to be the fast-idle valve was faulty,and when replaced,sorted the problem.....hope this may help you.
