There are a few things to check before taking in for service. 1. Check brake fluid level. 2. Check fuses. 3. Check electrical connections at the hydraulic control unit. If the light stays on or flashes it indicates a problem take in for service.
The ABS light is on because there is a problem with the ABS. The ABS will not function when the light is on. The light will remain on until the problem is fixed.
The ABS computer has detected a fault in the Antilock Braking System. Often it is a wheel speed detector or a modulator.
No, if the light is on all the time there is a problem with the ABS system. Have this looked into by a professional.
check the fuse in the fuse box below the light switch i believe it is a 20 amp. a previous may have puled this fuse to disable the system
why would the abs light stay on continuously in a 97 contour? I own a 1998 ford contour and the abs light is on all the time. my car which needs new breaks because when the abs light comes on you could have three wheels grabbing when you hit the breaks or two wheels grabbing. what i would do is either check to see if you need new breaks or they just may needed to be adjusted. your rotors could be so worn down that they could also need to be replaced or honed out.
there is an abs motor/switch on chassis rail. if this is not working correctly , your brakes will work but abs will not work correctly all the time untill this swith is replaced the abs light will stay on no matter what you do
It means that the ABS computer has detected a fault with the ABS circuit, meaning that there is a problem with a wheel speed sensor, the ABS computer or the actuator. You'll need to have the ABS diagnostic codes read to find out what the computer thinks is wrong.
The ABS light may indicate that the ABS system isn't working. The one in my van is coming on and going off from time to time. My mechanic says to wait until it is on all the time and he will replace the ABS module. The tire gauge light could mean that one or more of the tires have low pressure.
Have your speed sensors replaced
The ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) detects a problem with the system. The ABS light will remain on until the problem is fixed. Once the problem is fixed correctly the ABS light will reset itself.
I had the ABS light the light (which is the TCS indicator light) and the TCS light all on at the same time. Turned out to be one of my ABS sensors. According to my repair manual it states many diff things with all 4 lights involved with the TCS/ABS system. If its just the TCS system and not ABS then you will have only the TCS light on. If you have all 4 lights on (the 3 mentioned above) and the (Brake) light on then you have a problem with your entire ABS system. Hope this helps.
Probably a bad front wheel bearing/hub assembly with the abs sensor in it
